Principal’s Message:
The talent at our school continues to amaze me. We are so fortunate to have fantastic students, coaches, boosters, and community support backing our programs every step of the way. Musical Production Our theater department has had an unforgettable season. At the Drama Teachers Association of Southern California (DTASC) Festival, our students placed 6th in the overall sweepstakes out of 71 participating schools. They also earned 1st Place for their musical theatre performance from Little Shop of Horrors and received an Honorable Mention for their comedy scene. Additionally, our spring musical, Something Rotten!, was recognized by the Broadway San Diego Awards as one of the Top 5 Musicals out of 82 participating schools in San Diego County. Individual talent shone brightly as well: out of 450 nominees countywide, five of our students earned Top 30 callbacks, and four advanced to the Top 20 finalists. Congratulations to Skylar Grace Emert, Chase Boertje, Logan Loerzel, and Andrea Felix! On May 24th at the Balboa Theatre, these finalists will compete for Best Actor and Best Actress, while our school performs in consideration for Top School Musical in San Diego.
CHSTV It has been an incredible year for our students at CHSTV! The program earned its 20th Broadcast Excellence Award for Daily Live News Show, continuing to hold the national record for the most Excellence Awards in STN history. Our students also secured first place for the Crazy 8 Morning News Show, where 30 students collaborated to produce an 8-minute show in just 8 hours. Additionally, Carlsbad Currents was recognized with the Outstanding Achievement Award for High School News Magazine for the third consecutive year. In total, CHSTV swept eight awards and achieved a prestigious broadcasting trifecta, including a human interest feature story and three Student Emmy Awards for the live show, a feature story, and a short film.
Speech and Debate
Our Speech and Debate team traveled to Union City to compete at the California High School Association State Championships. A big congratulations to Danielle Dee, who was selected as a state finalist for "Student of the Year." We also celebrate Ava Sweasy and Lilah Gee for placing 3rd in Duo Interpretation, and Karlye Stein for earning 4th place in Original Advocacy.

Thank you all for your continued support of our incredibly talented students!
Sincerely, Julie Redfield Principal

GI Go Fund We partnering with the GI Go Fund as part of their annual Red, White & Blue Day in honor of Memorial Day. This program brings communities together in support of veterans in need and we would greatly appreciate your support with great cause! Over the last 15 years, Red, White & Blue Day has made it easy for communities to honor our service members and veterans in a meaningful way before Memorial Day. Participants wear red, white, and blue and make a small voluntary donation of $5, with all proceeds going directly to the GI Go Fund to support veterans with employment, housing, and other critical services. This year is particularly significant as we approach the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. You can donate now through May 21st at the following link: https://gigo.org/teams/Carlsbad-High-School-ASB
